ATHENA and Women of Accomplishment Award Nominations Due July 26

The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the prestigious ATHENA Award and the esteemed Women of Accomplishment recognition. Community members are invited to submit their nominations by July 26, 2024, to honor the exceptional contributions of women in DeKalb.

The ATHENA Award celebrates women who have demonstrated excellence in their professional careers, dedicated significant time and effort to improving their communities, and actively assisted other women in achieving their leadership potential. This award, presented in various communities globally, acknowledges the outstanding achievements of women who make their local communities exceptional. Nominees for the ATHENA Award must live or work in DeKalb and exemplify the highest levels of professional and community leadership.

Nominations and letters of support for the ATHENA Award are evaluated by a panel from other Chambers of Commerce within Illinois that have well-established ATHENA programs. This external review ensures a fair and comprehensive selection process to determine the year’s recipient.

In addition to the ATHENA Award, the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce also honors retired women through the Women of Accomplishment recognition. This award is reserved for those who have made a lasting impact in their respective careers and continue to give back to the community in meaningful ways. Introduced by the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, this recognition highlights the enduring influence and continued service of influential women who are no longer in the workforce.
