The DeKalb Park District is looking for community members to help them test their brand new facility before their official opening on August 15, 2026.
Weather permitting, the DeKalb Park District will host a Soft Opening of Hopkins Park Pool on Thursday, August 13, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A total of 125 individuals will be selected through a random lottery. Each selected participant may bring one guest, for a maximum of 250 attendees. Admission for the soft opening will be $2 per person. This event will give their team the opportunity to practice and evaluate operations, including admissions, concessions, and on-deck safety procedures in a live environment.
As a participant, you’ll help the District ensure that they will be ready to provide the best possible experience for all guests. Please note that because this is a soft opening, wait times, operational delays, or other adjustments may occur as staff test procedures and become familiar with their roles.
“The countdown is officially on,” said Chrissy Tluczek, Superintendent of Recreation. “This soft opening gives us a chance to make sure everything is running smoothly while giving a few lucky community members an early opportunity to experience the new pool. We can’t wait to welcome everyone very soon.”
A ribbon cutting will take place at 5:30 pm during the Soft Opening at the Main Entrance. The District welcomes the public to attend this ceremony. To enter the lottery, complete the entry form here: Hopkins Park Pool Soft Opening Lottery by Friday, August 7 at 11:59 PM.
The form will also be available on the District’s Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram pages, as well as the website at dekalbparkdistrict.com.
Lottery winners will be notified by email on Monday, August 10, with instructions on purchasing
admission and additional event details.
