The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the promotion of Alexis Aviles to the full-time position of Communications & Engagement Coordinator.
Since joining the Chamber as a summer intern in 2022, Alexis has become an integral member of the Chamber team. Following her internship, she was hired as the Chamber’s part-time Communications Assistant in the spring of 2023. During that time, she also earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Northern Illinois University and gained additional experience working with the DeKalb County Convention and Visitors Bureau as their Marketing Assistant.
In her new role as Communications & Engagement Coordinator, Alexis will help oversee member and public communications, social media management, website content, and member engagement initiatives. She will also support the Chamber’s growing programs and events to strengthen the connection between local businesses, organizations, and the community.
Throughout her time with the Chamber, Alexis has played an instrumental role in expanding the organization’s visual storytelling through videography and digital marketing. She has helped produce several of the Chamber’s signature video projects, including the annual Taste of the Town promotional series and the Business of the Year and Nonprofit Organization Award finalist videos, which have showcased and celebrated businesses throughout the DeKalb community. Her creativity, technical expertise, and collaborative approach have helped elevate the Chamber’s marketing efforts and member engagement.
Alexis’ promotion reflects the Chamber’s continued investment in member engagement and communications as the organization expands its programs, events, and services. The Chamber is excited to see her continue building meaningful connections with members while enhancing the organization’s communications and marketing initiatives.
