The DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) invites business leaders, employers, educators, workforce professionals, and community members to attend a special follow-up event to its Economic Outlook Luncheon, featuring an insightful keynote presentation by Dr. Kristen Broady, Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
The event will be held Tuesday, August 11, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Kishwaukee College Conference Center – Dining Room in Malta.
Drawing on recent research, Dr. Broady will explore how automation and artificial intelligence have affected jobs and wages across U.S. occupations between 2019 and 2024. Using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and emerging AI usage trends, the presentation will examine how different occupations have been influenced by technological advancements and how innovations such as generative AI and robotics are reshaping the nature of work.
Attendees will gain valuable insights into how today’s labor market trends compare with earlier predictions about technology-driven job disruption and what these changes may mean for employers, workers, and the regional economy.
