The DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) invites community members, leaders, and stakeholders to attend the DeKalb County Rural Vitality Summit on Tuesday, June 16, from 4 to 6 PM at the Kishwaukee College Conference Center. The event is free to attend, but participants are asked to RSVP by June 9 at DCEDC.org/events. Light refreshments will be served.
The summit marks an important step in advancing the work of the newly formed DeKalb County Rural Vitality Committee, a collaborative group under the DCEDC that is dedicated to addressing the unique needs of the county’s rural communities. The committee brings together organizations from across the county that are committed to enhancing community development and improving overall livability.
The Rural Vitality Committee is building a coordinated approach to strengthening smaller communities by aligning resources and leveraging research from the DeKalb County Community Foundation (DCCF), along with insights from local leaders and successful models from other regions. The initiative aims to provide communities with the tools and support needed to grow sustainably while enhancing quality of life and maintaining local character.
By supporting these initiatives, the committee seeks to help rural communities build local capacity, strengthen their economic base, improve livability, and enhance critical assets—particularly downtown districts.
