A team from this year’s DeKalb Leadership Academy class is partnering with local nonprofit Barb Food Mart to host a community donation event aimed at supporting families in need throughout the DeKalb area. The event will take place on Saturday, April 18th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The group invites residents of all ages to participate in a family friendly 0.25 mile run/walk, designed to bring the community together in a fun and active way. The afternoon will also feature live music and a raffle giveaway for attendees.
Barb Food Mart, known for providing essential food resources to local families, will directly benefit from all donations collected during the event. Organizers hope the community will join them in making a meaningful impact.
“We’re excited to bring people together for a great cause,” the group shared. “Every contribution helps support families right here in our community, and we’re grateful for everyone who comes out.” Community members are encouraged to attend, participate, and donate as they are able.
