The Board of Directors of Kishwaukee United Way announces that Dr. Michele Vaughn, Executive Director, has submitted her resignation effective August 1, 2025. The Board would like to thank Dr. Vaughn for her dedicated leadership over the past two and a half years. Throughout her tenure, she has made significant contributions to our organization’s mission by promoting community volunteerism and enhancing the support systems available to residents.
Dr. Vaughn’s expansion of the vital initiatives, such as the 211 service with the community kiosks, has dramatically improved access to essential resources and services for those in need. Her vision and leadership in these projects have fostered greater community engagement and have effectively connected individuals to vital assistance.
Additionally, Dr. Vaughn’s productive collaborations with the Daily Chronicle have been instrumental in raising awareness and encouraging participation in local programs. Her ability to forge strong partnerships with diverse stakeholders has enriched the work of Kishwaukee United Way, resulting in meaningful outcomes for the community we serve.
We wish Dr. Vaughn the utmost success in her future endeavors and trust that she will continue to make a positive impact wherever her journey leads her.
A search committee is being established to appoint a new director. During this interim period, the Board and United Way staff will oversee daily operations, ensuring the continuity of United Way’s mission, partnerships, and campaigns without interruption. We express confidence in our strategic direction and remain dedicated to fostering a stronger community for all.
