Community Action Funds Fully Spent, Impact Still Growing

Since January, Family Service Agency’s Community Action Program has distributed more than $125,000 in direct financial assistance to residents across DeKalb County. That funding helped cover 171 rent payments, 35 vehicle repairs, 9 security deposits, and 8 temporary hotel placements. In addition, 166 individuals engaged in job training designed to promote long-term stability.

This funding has now been fully expended, and the program is no longer accepting new financial assistance applications. However, the work continues.

Community Action remains committed to walking alongside individuals and families through long-term case management. Services include budgeting assistance, employment support, housing navigation, and resource referrals. The team continues to serve those working to overcome barriers and build lasting change.

They lead with urgency, compassion, and deep commitment to the people we serve. Until poverty is eradicated in DeKalb County, we will keep showing up: ready to act, ready to serve, and ready to make a difference.”
