Love INC of DeKalb County, a local non-profit charity, announced they will be hosting an inaugural golf outing on Thursday, July 23rd in DeKalb. The event will be held in memory of Roger Scott, who served as DeKalb County Sheriff for 36 years, retiring in 2021. In 2025, Roger passed away from pancreatic cancer. As a Love INC volunteer, Roger supported the charity’s mission to organize resources from local churches and the community to help individuals and families in DeKalb County who are experiencing hardship. This event aims to continue Roger’s legacy of service to the citizens of DeKalb County.
The golf outing will be held at River Heights Golf Course, 1020 Sharon Drive, in DeKalb. Golfers will tee off at 8:30am with friendly competition throughout 18 holes, including fun contests like longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt.
Faranda’s Catering of DeKalb is sponsoring a coffee hour for golfers to enjoy coffee and pastries beginning at 7:30am at the clubhouse at River Heights Golf Course. There will be several items available for silent auction and raffle drawings. Among the items donated for bidding is a Chicago Bears helmet provided by the Chicago Bears and autographed by star receiver Luther Burden III. Several local businesses have also generously donated merchandise and gift certificates. Silent auction items are available for bidding in the clubhouse throughout the morning, and the bidding is open to the public.
