The DeKalb County Community Foundation proudly announced the Michael Embrey Band Scholarship Fund. This scholarship supports Northern Illinois University (NIU) students actively participating in the NIU Marching Band program. Established by Michael Embrey, the Fund honors his lifelong music career and pays forward the significant impact of the scholarship he received as a student. Applications for the Embrey Band Scholarship will be open each fall (beginning in 2025). The recipient will be recognized during the NIU Homecoming football game each year. Embrey holds two degrees from Northern Illinois University, actively serves on multiple community organization tourism boards, and has earned national recognition for his work with military veterans and veteran organizations. His company produces entertainment events and international travel (for individuals and groups). “A single music scholarship changed my life,” Embrey shared. “It allowed me to continue pursuing my music career and opened doors I never imagined. I want to provide that same opportunity for future band members.” Embrey continues to produces music events for national organizations including the NFL, ABC-TV and Disney.
