RAMP Disability Resources & Services Recognizes Disability Advocates in the Community

Rockford, IL — November 4, 2025 — RAMP Disability Resources & Services recognized several voices for the disability community this past week at their 34th Annual Changing Attitudes Breaking Barriers Luncheon.

This annual event celebrates advocacy and the individuals and partners who have made a lasting impact in advancing the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities throughout the communities RAMP serves.

Award Recipients:

Marley Gibbons – Youth Leadership Award
The Youth Leadership Award is awarded to an individual who is a leader and advocate for students with disabilities.

Marley has been a powerful voice for accessibility and inclusion – through her work with the Summer Youth Initiative at RAMP and the Disability Club at Rock Valley College, as well as in every day life.

Educator of the Year – Tracy Severino
The Educator of the Year Award is given to an outstanding educator who dedicates their work to pouring into students enrolled in special education programs.

Tracy is a major asset to the Project SEARCH site at Northwestern Medicine at Kishwaukee Hospital. From teaching in the classroom, working hands on with interns, or showing intern growth through her beautiful Project SEARCH graduation videos, Tracy embodies what it truly means to be an educator.

Supporter of the Year Award – 100 Women Who Care
The Supporter of the Year Award is given to a person or organization who generously supports RAMP and individuals with disabilities throughout the community.

100 Women Who Care is a group of local women in Stephenson County from all walks of life looking to make a change in their community. Every quarter, they raise and donate funds to a chosen local nonprofit.

Advocate of the Year – Rockford Park District
The Advocate of the Year Award is given to a person or organization for their advocacy efforts to ensure the rights and voices of individuals with disabilities are heard and respected.

The Rockford Park District has made incredible strides in the community, from their work in Therapeutic Recreation, creating inclusive playgrounds in the area, and helping make the Accessible Field Day possible.
