Understanding Trauma & Implementing Trauma-Informed Approaches

Understanding trauma and how it impacts people is a tool for interacting with people daily. If you work with people in any profession, you can benefit from Trauma Awareness Training. Trauma impacts one’s spirituality and relationships, often resulting in ongoing feelings of shame, guilt, rage, and isolation. Despite all of this, healing is possible. In partnership with the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, the DeKalb County Community Mental Health Board is hosting a free trauma awareness training on Friday, June 9, 2023. Attendees can choose from a morning session 9:00- 12:00 p.m. or afternoon session 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The training will be held at Faranda’s Banquet Center, 302 Grove Street, DeKalb, IL. The presenter is Raul Almazar, RN, MA, Senior Public Policy Advisor at the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors Center for Innovations in Trauma-Informed Approaches. To register, call or email Deanna Cada, Executive Director, DCCMHB 815-899-4960 or dcada@dekalbcounty.org.
